The moisture reading & light sensor work fine I'm my opinion but the PH is off! I checked several times in many plants and it always says my soil is to acidoc then I can test it with my soil kit and it's perfect between 4-6 as it should be. I wouldn't buy this product again. This was application when easy excellent resultsYou get what you pay for not bad for the price they all seem the same to me in this price rangeNice to have to get general idea of PH balance of soilThe moisture meter is useful and seems to work pretty well. When I tested the pH with this device, it indicated my soil was way too alkaline (pH 8), but when I tested with two other methods--a more precise soil pH meter and a chemical test--the soil tested around pH 7. You can't read a precise pH on this unit and I would not recommend using it to test soil acidity.I laid new Bermuda grass in April and put new soil and tall fescue just two weeks ago. The flowers I’ve planted in the flower beds along the way. One has succeeded and the other has been a garden of death and that was the reason for buying this soil tester.I want to show everyone what I received out of the box. I got home and went straight to the yard because my sprinkler system had just watered and the soil was loose. I have a small screwdriver that I initially used to make the holes to insert the probes.I soon found they were not as fragile as people claim and only had to use it in a couple areas. But, I do recommend using the screwdriver method in case you have rocky or clay lawns. You have to use common sense. If it doesn’t slide smoothly into the ground, why force it in. As for the rest, the pictures I uploaded speak for themselves. Every area was a little bit different and most importantly, I got a great overall picture of what is happening with my lawn and garden areas. I don’t need to use this until I make amendments and if this only last me one year, at 16 bucks I’ll gladly purchase another for next year. I will also be doing professional soil tests this year as I get more serious about the main and garden but this is a new house and new sod so this is a great start. I am accumulating more professional equipment along the way but this soil tester is no slouch and I don’t see it giving me a problem as long as I take care of it just as I would a professional tool. Hope this helps.Does what it says. Haven't tested it against others but I'm happy with my purchase.PH testing initially didn't work. Other reviews say the same. After the ph level did not change in potted soil heavily treated with Ospho, (phosphoric acid), 40 percent vinegar, and a garden acidifier. still nothing. It didn't make sense. So I put the meter in the bag of soil acidifier, probed buried nothing. Put I in a cup of 40 percent vinegar, nothing. Also, one of the probes broke. My soil is not hard in any way. Then, half hour after writing this, I scraped the bottom of the probes for about a minute using 120 sandpaper. Retested the lemon tree soil that I aggressively attempted to acidify. depending where I put the probes, I got PH level between 6 to 4.5, 4.5 is where I most recently added phosphoric acid, and too acidic. Make sure your probe is working before over doing things. This was a complete disappointment. It should be easy to use - but I got no reaction from it whatsoever. My worst purchase ever from Amazon. It just doesn't work, and it's not cost effective to return it.I purchased this to check when I need to water my Fiddle Leaf Fig. It contantly reads at 1.5 for moisture and moves to 1.75 directly after I've watered it. The back of the packaging indicates that it should be at 4 for fiddle leaf figs. I have tried placing the whole thing in water and it only reads at 4, so technically it won't go past 4. What a joke. The pH meter on this product didn't work. Suspected this when I placed the item in different plant growing mediums that should have come up with different readings (monstera in potting soil vs carnivorous sundew in sphagnum moss/peat/perlite). Stuck it in a lemon. Got a moisture reading but the pH reading was nil. Not worth the effort and postage to send it back for a refund, so do yourself a favour and save your pennies.I bought 2 different soil testers namely Atree Soil pH Meter (S$11.49) and yoyomax Soil Test Kit (S$15) and received 2 completely identical and non-branded testers! Although both of these testers seem to work, I have been short-changed by the Seller. Am I happy with the purchase? Obviously not. Will I purchase from the same seller? Definitely not! Disappointed!Well I would like to say a few words about this product but it would get deleted, let’s just say good bye 11 bucks it was nice knowing you. You have been warned and buyer beware! As per the photo attached clearly Australian water is not moist enough for this canny device
