My wife has been hounding me to put lights in our pantry and hall closet for 27 years (I'm serious). She's a saint, I gave her a flashlight instead of pulling circuits to install 120v lighting, and she's been OK with it (yeah, I really lucked out when I married her!). But when I saw these MB990 lights on Amazon for a great price in the two pack, I figured let's give it a shot. And I am glad I did, they are great! They are the brightest lights of their type that I have found, and boy, let me tell you, they really light up both area nice and bright with a daylight-temperature light (bluish-white). I much prefer the lighting color temperature of the MB990 to anything soft white, because it appears brighter and that is why I bought the MB990, because it is the brightest battery operated light I found. Very easy to install, just drill four little holes and hammer in some wall anchors into the ceiling and secure the mounting base, then twist the unit onto the base and your done. If you can install a smoke detector on the ceiling, you can easily install these lights. While some people complain that sometimes you need to wave your hands to make the motion sensor turn on the light, I have actually found that behavior to be beneficial. It allows me to sometimes open the pantry when there is more than ample ambient light in the kitchen, and pull something off the shelf quickly without triggering the light and therefore conserving battery life. If I need the light to be on in these cases, a quick wave of my hand in front of my face and the light comes on every time. One suggestion that I would make to the manufacturer is to incorporate a jumper in the MB990 that allows the user to choose from two or three options for the lighting duration. Perhaps 30, 60 and maybe even 90 seconds, this would please folks that want a little less or a little more lighting time than the hardwired 30 seconds the MB990 currently provides.Bottom line, don't keep your wife in the dark for 27 years like I did! If you need to light up an area and it just doesn't make sense to hard-wire fixtures in there, buy these MB990s with confidence. Changing a set of D cell batteries once or twice a year is really cheap compared to the price of an electrician, and my wife beams a smile now every time she comes out of the pantry. Just do it!
